More offshoring news

Some may know that I am a big anti-offshoring promotor. Why is this? Well I believe that you get what you pay for and well paying for cheap labor produces cheap product.

Anyhow, I read an article today, by Stephen Swoyer "Who Benefits From Outsourcing?", that exposes another evil of offshoring. The article says that CEO's at leading pro-offshore companies are lining thier pockets with the savings from offshoring. The article basically shows that large companies are offshoring jobs and putting people out of work, just so the executives can make a few extra bucks in thier bonuses.

Though I have no real commentary other than,"how disgusting" I felt it blog worthy.

You say "you get what you pay for," implying a link between low quality and low price. Yet one of the topics to which your blog is dedicated is Linux, the flagship of the open source movement. So why don't you think free software equates to zero quality?

Open source is done mostly by hobbyists seeking something interesting to do and the admiration of thier peers. I would tend to do a better job on something that I enjoy and take pride in as opposed to something that I was paid twenty dollars a month to do by a company in some other country that is using me to make millions, and yet won't pay me a decent wage.

However I do see how my statement could be supportive of your argument.
